That's very tricky and difficult to choose just one, because I have so many special and amazing places that I freedive in, in different parts of the world, but I have to say that I have a special one, that is a combination of different factors and things that makes it super nice, and that is
Dahab, Egypt. First of all, there is
a nice freediving community there, I've found friends for life, brothers, and sisters even. And it's very calm,
nice weather conditions pretty much the whole year, is easy just at the bay, you just jump in the water and you have depth. If you want more you can go to the amazing
Blue Hole, just 15 minutes away by car. It's a nice chill vibe area in the middle of the desert and the combination of desert and the red sea is pretty special, so I think I made my mind and I think that is my favorite place so far. But I have to say that, in other places, every place has its unique characteristic and special things, but Dahab, Egypt, is one of my favorites.
Annelie Pompe
Hello everyone, I am Annelie Pompe, I'm from Sweden, I am an Alchemy athlete, and I have the luck to actually, be sitting just outside of one of my favorite freediving spots in the world, and it's in
Sweden, believe it or not! But I do love the cold waters and
when it's cold and clear, this is absolutely beautiful. And when I speak of freediving in Sweden, I obviously speak about the
west coast. We have a really nice, beautiful ocean, you can freedive with seals, some nice kelp. Actually a lot of nice-looking fish and sceneries, there are lots of colors and movements and sometimes we have a visibility of 10 meters and then I think this is the most beautiful dive place in the world. Of course, I also love warm places, and then I would actually, say Papua New Guinea and
Raja Ampat is my absolute favorite, it's beautiful.
I think Raja Ampat is probably what coral reefs looked like 50 years ago. So, if you have a chance to see it, do it, and take care of it, and I hope everyone out there who loves the ocean also takes care of the ocean.
Alli Penovich
My favorite place to freedive would have to be
Bali, Indonesia. I spent about three months there last year, freediving almost every day to train for a couple of competitions. The
people, the
food, the
environment were absolutely incredible, after our diving session, we'd all go eat and talk about our dives that day, we'd help each other work out any issues we had, and everyone there was just super supportive and encouraging. The water was about
250 ft deep, just a short swim off the beach, which is incredible, deep blue, and in the background was a volcano. I was planning on spending about six or seven months there again this year but with the shutdown, I wasn't able to get over there, hopefully, next year everything opens back up and I'll be able to spend some more time training and freediving in Bali.
Cristian Castano
Hey guys, my name is Cristian Castano, I'm an athlete representing Colombia, representing Alchemy bifins. I'm here to tell you about my favorite freediving spots. I feel that is a little bit unfair to choose one from all the amazing places around the world that I had the chance to be, so I'm going to say a few! I love
Amed in Bali in Indonesia, and I love
Panglao in the Philippines because of the water conditions, but also the sea life, I think
those are really amazing places. Kalamata is the most perfect spot to train and the calm zone is completely flat and they have great stuff in there, that's another one. And of course, I'm going to show you this one, it's a little bit rough today but it's also a really nice spot, this is where I live now,
San Andreas Island, Colombia. I invite everybody to come here and train with me, come with
Freedive Colombia and we're gonna have some amazing dives and some amazing sightseeings as well.
