Diana Garcia Benito

Freediver - Instructor - Oceanographer

Diana García Benito is deeply devoted to the ocean. An oceanographer, submarine pilot, Master Freediving Instructor, yoga teacher, marine conservationist, and activist, she has dedicated her life to exploring, understanding, and protecting the marine world. She believes that fostering a personal connection to the ocean—through education and shared experiences—is essential to inspiring care and action for its preservation.

One of Diana’s most powerful tools for raising awareness is visual storytelling. Together with her partner, Livio Fakeye, she creates compelling imagery that captures both the breathtaking beauty and the urgent challenges facing our oceans today. Their work is more than art—it’s a call to action. By merging aesthetics with environmental truth, their photographs invite viewers to reflect, engage, and become part of the solution.

Diana is driven by a clear mission: to educate and raise awareness about the vital role the ocean plays in sustaining life on Earth. She believes that much of the damage done to our seas stems from a lack of understanding. Through teaching—especially young people—she strives to nurture a deep, emotional bond with the marine environment.

Freediving, in particular, offers a unique gateway to this connection. Immersing oneself in the ocean without barriers creates an intimate, almost spiritual relationship with the underwater world—one that makes it impossible not to care. For Diana, this bond becomes a source of motivation and strength to protect what remains so fragile, and so essential.
