OUR JOURNEY

YOUR ADVENTURE

THE BEGINNING

In 2006, The first pair of Alchemy fins were designed in a small shack in Athens, Greece. Armed with minimal equipment and close-to-zero R&D budget, D. Pantazis set out to produce the one thing he needed the most when diving; a pair of carbon fins that would provide maximum thrust with minimal oxygen consumption.

"A GREAT PRODUCT MUST BE ABLE

TO SOLVE A REAL PROBLEM, AS QUICKLY

AND EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE"

IT ALL BEGAN IN KALYMNOS

Diving in Greece dates back to ancient times, with the island of Kalymnos renowned for its rich sponge diving tradition, considered "the oldest profession" there. Early Kalymnian divers used skin diving techniques, descending without gear and relying on a flat stone called a "skandalopetra" to sink quickly. Known for their remarkable lung capacity, they could reach depths of up to 100 feet while holding their breath. These divers held a deep respect for the sea and were committed to preserving the natural environment.

WE ARE THE OFFSPRING OF THE AEGEAN

The Aegean Sea is perhaps the first sea whose oceanography was studied. Aristotle (384-322 BC), who made significant contributions to oceanography and marine biology, begins the second book of his work with a treatise on oceanography. He was the first to estimate the depths of different seas and recognized that seas and continents change slowly over time.

TECHNOLOGY & TEAMWORK

Our headquarters serve as an active innovation hub, where a collective of professionals with diverse skills collaborate to craft the world's best carbon diving fins. Through our unwavering commitment to excellence, we continuously ush the boundaries of what is possible in our field, setting new benchmarks for quality and innovation.

"IF YOU VISIT THIS PLACE, YOU'LL FIND

IT'S DEFINITELY A WORKSHOP RATHER

THAN A SPOTLESS DESIGN LABORATORY"

OUR PLAYGROUND

The renowned Cyclades are an island group southeast of mainland Greece. Famous for their challenging conditions all year long, they provide the playground that inspires our adventures and products. Makronisos, a small uninhabited island notorious as the site of a political prison from the 1920s to the 1970s, is an hour away from our office.

CERTIFIED QUALITY

Our management system operates in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, a quality management standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that defines the criteria for a quality management system. As one of the most widely recognized and respected standards globally, it offers a framework for organizations to establish, implement, maintain, and continuously improve their system for managing quality.

WHY IS ISO IMPORTANT?

The ISO standard focuses on customer satisfaction and meeting requirements consistently. It highlights process-based and risk-based thinking to identify and mitigate risks in the quality management system. To achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification, an organization must pass an independent audit, which reviews its quality management system, policies, and processes.

"CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, THE IDEA THAT MACHINES

ARE THE EXCLUSIVE AGENTS OF PRODUCTION IS FLAWED. IN

ACTUALITY, IT IS THE CREATIVITY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP OF

HUMAN BEINGS THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRODUCTION

OF GOODS AND SERVICES, AND NOT THE MACHINES THEMSELVES”

THE SCIENCE BEHIND CARBON

Carbon fiber is a composite material made of thin, carbon atom filaments embedded in a polymer matrix. This structure gives carbon fiber composites exceptional strength, stiffness, and durability, with a high strength-to-weight ratio due to their tensile strength and low density. Their anisotropic properties mean mechanical performance varies by direction, as fibers are aligned to enhance specific characteristics.

PREMIUM-GRADE MATERIALS

At Alchemy, we prioritize using only top-quality materials from trusted manufacturers who share our commitment to excellence. Every component in our products is carefully chosen for durability and performance. We collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure all materials meet our high standards for safety, sustainability, and quality, giving you confidence in every Alchemy product.

A PROMISE OF EXCELLENCE

When making a purchase, confidence in your investment is key, and a strong warranty plays a big role. For avid freedivers, the right gear is essential for top performance. That’s why we proudly offer carbon freediving fins with a five-year warranty, a testament to their exceptional quality, durability, and long-lasting performance.

BORN TO INNOVATE

Alchemy has always been at the forefront of innovation. Since 2009, our dolphin tail-shaped blade end, inspired by Gray’s paradox, has boosted propulsion for freedivers, enabling faster glides. In 2012, we introduced colored water rails on carbon fins, replacing standard black and adding personal style, and also pioneered silicone in water rails, diving belts, and neck weights. Most recently, Alchemy and Yamamoto created the Aurora fins featuring color-shifting carbon, marking a groundbreaking collaboration in freediving gear.

THE ALCHEMY TEAM

Since its inception, Alchemy has proudly sponsored athletes, starting with Greek spearos and expanding to international freedivers like Linda Paganelli. Our athletes have gone on to break World, Continental, and National Records, demonstrating the power of hard work, dedication, and Alchemy's support. Their achievements inspire the next generation of divers to pursue their dreams, and Alchemy remains committed to helping athletes reach their full potential.

UNLOCKING THE SECRETS OF THE DEEP

At Alchemy, producing educational content for divers is a top priority. By sharing our expertise, we promote safe, responsible diving practices and foster a deeper understanding of the marine environment. Through these initiatives, we aim to inspire divers worldwide to explore and protect the underwater world in the best possible way.

CRAFTING THE STORIES THAT MATTER

As part of our commitment to advancing freediving and promoting ocean conservation, we proudly sponsor a team of creators who capture the essence of the sport through stunning visual content. These skilled individuals blend their passion for freediving with artistic vision, using cutting-edge techniques to inspire and educate global audiences. Their work highlights the ocean's beauty while raising awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

UNTOLD TALES

Our podcast offers exclusive interviews with some of the world’s most accomplished freedivers, who share their personal experiences, insights, and challenges both in and out of the water. We aim to provide a raw, unfiltered look into the world of freediving, exploring uncomfortable truths often overlooked. Whether you're a seasoned diver or a beginner, the podcast offers a unique perspective, diving into the human spirit and what drives us to explore the ocean’s depths.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We believe businesses have a responsibility to operate ethically and give back to society. That’s why we minimize our environmental impact by using sustainable materials, reducing waste, and running all our operations 100% on solar energy. We also ensure ethical practices throughout our supply chain. Beyond this, we support organizations like the Maomana Foundation and donate a portion of our profits to Tree Nation, supporting environmental causes. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility is a core value, reflecting our belief that businesses can make a positive impact on the world.
