Weights are weights, right? Wrong. A couple of months ago we sent our new freediving neck weight to the guys from Bad Fish in the Philippines.
They went diving with it and brought along a couple of National Record holders to test it as well. Here's what they had to say.
We got something from Alchemy and it's a real treat! They sent us their brand new neck weight and it's really awesome, it feels great, it looks sexy, it even looks like headphones sometimes! So, what we did was, we tested this out to see if it's any better, because you know, weight is weight, so what's the difference between a regular lead weight and this awesome silicone-covered Alchemy neck weight? We’re going to find out! We’ve got some of the national record holders in the Philippines to test them out in a dive, so let's see what they have to say about it. But before we dive into the user reviews, just some little details about this neck weight. It is a silicone encapsulated lead neck weight, it comes in different lengths and weights. I'm Marion Sumalinog, an instructor of Pacific Blue Freediving and the current national record holder of constant weight in the Philippines. So, what I like about the Alchemy neck weight is when I was doing my deep dives, I rarely feel the neck weight pushing on my chin and my neck. Basically, when I was doing my dives I never felt that the neck weight was on my neck. Traditionally I wear a DIY neck weight for the past four years and now when I tried the alchemy one, it was the best neck weight that I used for the past four years that I've been freediving.

I like that it doesn't have buckles, so it's easy to put on and it doesn't create friction when you put it around your neck.

Arrive in your dive with style! And it's great to see innovation with products that are normally considered as just traditional you know, like weights. It’s great to see Alchemy pushing the boundaries when it comes to these kinds of products and we'd love to see more of that coming from different companies as well.
