As we all know, one of the secrets to diving deeper is to be able to relax. Yin yoga is a set sequence of lying down or sitting postures that you hold. This practice is best for freediving, as it helps you to understand where in your body and mind you're holding tension, and where you can relax. In this video, Natalie Rudman, a South African freediver, instructor & yoga teacher, shows a series of lung stretches that will help you have better flexibility in your ribcage, in your lungs, in your diaphragm, and be able to handle pressure, while diving deeper. They will also help you to take a much deeper breath before you start your dive.

"
My name is Natalie Rudman, I'm a South African freediver and I also hold the continental African records in constant weight and in free immersion.  I'm also a freediving instructor and yoga teacher. My favorite yoga to teach for freediving is yin yoga. I find this practice the best for freediving because it helps you to understand where in your body and in your mind you're holding tension, and where you can relax and go deeper. As freedivers, the secret to diving deeper and to enjoying the experience is to relax, and putting a new diver into the water, may not be the best time or place to learn how to relax. So practicing yoga helps you to get that understanding of how exactly you can relax your entire body,  where you hold tension and let it all go. Today I'm going to show you a series of lung stretches. Lung stretches can be done on full lung, breathing, or completely empty lung".
