Sofia Gomez Uribe is one of the deep as well as great ones in the sport of freediving. Born and raised in Colombia, she took up swimming in 2002 and started freediving in 2013. In 2017 she broke the CWTB world record (-83.1m) beating Alenka Artnik's previous record (-82m) and only two days later she set yet another record of -84m. She is one of the organizers, along with Jonathan Sunnex, of the Blue Element freediving competition in Dominica. She currently holds national records in CNF, CWT, CWTB and FIM for Colombia.
