Before the birth of classical civilizations, human survival was dependent on the skill of hunting, where powerful men - and in some territories, also, women - held daily hunts to put food on the table for their families. From bones to skins, all materials obtained from the animals were used, and sometimes, items such as the skulls were kept, symbolizing the clan and determining the bravest. There weren't many options; hunt or starve to death. No sport, just survival.
Fast forward a few hundred years later, we live in a world where almost anything can be purchased and every basic human need can be provided by a business. We don't like that.
