Once upon a time, during the Celtic festival of Samhain, people would do all sorts of weird things, such as wearing costumes and light massive bonfires, in order to keep ghosts away! The Celts, celebrated the new year on November 1st, and this very day signified the end of summer and the start of winter. Can you imagine how winter felt 2000 years ago? No decent clothes, no smart homes, no warm water - that was a bad place to be! Jokes aside, Celts believed that during the night of the new year, the worlds of the living and the dead became one and the dead walked the earth once more!
Fast forward a few thousand years later, Halloween is celebrated in many parts of the world. No, we don’t fear that ghosts will start roaming the city streets, but it’s a good starting point for some fun!
