A new Netflix documentary is stirring up global conversation about the costs of eating fish, to the ocean and to humans. The trending film follows filmmaker Ali Tabrizi around the globe, as he investigates the ever changing world of commercial fishing. Tabrizi taps into a series of disturbing facts, as it is argued that discarded fishing gear - namely nets & lines - comprise to almost 50% of the ocean pollution and that 24.000 workers die on the job per year. Even though representatives of NGOs and ocean experts argue that the film contains misleading data, Tabrizi is standing his ground.
The documentary has been produced by Kip Andersen, the producer behind Cowspiracy (2014) & What the Health (2017).
