According to Homer, during Odysseus travel back to Ithaca, he stopped at an island where he met Calypso; an enchanting female immortal nymph. The story goes that Calypso wanted to keep him on the island and make him her immortal husband. Calypso's island is thought to be Gozo. Gozo is the sister island of Malta, a place of tremendous beauty. Filled with historical sites, forts and sublime views, as well as one of the western mediterranean's best-preserved prehistoric temples, Ġgantija, Gozo is beautiful both on land as well as underwater, and, quite rightly so, it is preffered by many European divers as a place for freediving.
