Duskies are one of the favorite species of Mediterranean spearos for a good reason; they are tasty, they can get pretty large and the big ones prefer to live deep at sea! So, it's always fun to hunt for those groupers in Greece, especially during the summer. Spearfishing dusky groupers is not for the faint of heart. Besides early in the morning or late in the afternoon they prefer to chill underneath large - or not so large - rocks. So even if one manages to spear one, he will still need to retrieve it from within its hiding hole and that can be quite difficult at times, as the fish can get stuck in there, requiring many deep dives and a lot of energy. However, the best way to hunt them is outside their hole, where you can get a clear view and enjoy a good, farway shot.
