Freediver - Instructor - UW Photographer - Spearo
Josh Munoz
Josh is a freediving instructor, underwater photographer, and spearfisherman. Originally hailing from the landscapes of Arizona, he embarked on a transformative journey when he relocated to Hawaii after completing college. It was there that he discovered his deep connection to the underwater world. While Josh initially studied photography and film in college, it was his first encounter with an underwater camera that ignited his overwhelming passion for capturing marine wildlife. Beyond his love of photography, Josh is equally devoted to his role as a freediving instructor and coach. Balancing his time between hosting courses on the weekends, spearfishing on the weekdays, and finding time to travel.
Josh also has a knack for travel, especially if there is diving or spearing involved. He has been blessed to travel to some of the best diving areas around the world and continues to pursue new travels each year. However, Josh frequently finds himself irresistibly drawn back to French Polynesia where he works as a seasonal photographer during whale season. Notable, he has undertaken numerous voyages on sailboats, including an unforgettable 80-day expedition in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, capturing footage and images along the way. He has published work with esteemed underwater platforms and magazines, including National Geographic.
