Pavel Tomm
Freediver - Instructor - Guide

Pavel Tomm

Growing up in the middle of Europe, but with a strong passion for being under the water, Pavel started with BMX as a young guy and played tennis and basketball. He got in touch with scuba diving as a kid, but he knew from the beginning there was something missing in such an activity. More than 20 years ago he got his first monofin and started to use it for finswimming and fun. That was the missing piece; the physical & mental challenge.

He traveled to Koh Tao island in the Gulf of Thailand in 2012 and it changed his life forever. He started freediving with Blue Immersion and shortly after that, he became an instructor. He spent 5 years on the island and worked for elite freedivers and trainers such as Linda Paganelli, Lotta Ericson and Florian Dagoury. He has worked as an instructor, coach and manager for the center. After years in Thailand, he moved to Egypt and did the same for Freedive Dahab. More than about 700 people went through his courses and training programs.

In 2017 he got an offer from Jacques de Vos to work as a freediving guide on his project Arctic Freediving; seasonal expeditions on two yachts behind the polar circle in the fjords of Norway and freediving with orcas and humpbacks. A dream that he hopes will last forever. During the pandemic, he decided to start his own freediving school and training club Apnoe Space back in the Czech Republic.
