Humoud Alajlan

Spearo - Guide

Humoud’s connection to the ocean began early in Kuwait, where he hunted cuttlefish and crabs with a pole spear. Coming from a family rooted in pearl diving and fishing, the sea was always a part of him.

By age 10, he earned both Junior and Advanced scuba certifications. A year later, he joined a sports club and swam competitively until 17. He later moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to pursue a finance degree and swam for his college team, an experience that shaped his character.

After graduating in 2012, he returned to Kuwait to work in corporate banking. In 2014, he bought his first boat and began spearfishing regularly, quickly advancing his skills. A three-month stay in Hawaii helped refine his technique, where he reached a personal best of 58 meters in constant weight and trained to hunt at 36 meters.
In 2015, he entered and won his first spearfishing tournament in Kuwait. He went on to place 1st in 2017, 2nd in 2018, and 1st again in 2019. In 2018, he competed in Qatar’s Katara Pearl Diving Championship, joining one of 20 elite teams from across the Arabian Peninsula. Diving without suits, masks, or fins in the tradition of their ancestors, his team took 1st place.
